Best. Story. Ever.

Image
Recently, I had the honor of preaching in my hometown. As I spoke on my favorite subject , it dawned on me that in the congregation, there was a living picture of D3 Disciplemaking . In the congregation that day were two friends who used to work together as bartenders years ago. Here's their story. The woman on the left heard the Gospel from her sister. Her relationship with Jesus began to transform her life so much that she quit working as a bartender—and started sharing Jesus with her best friend—the woman on the right. The woman on the right didn't really want to hear about Jesus—and no longer wanted to be friends with the woman on the left—because all she could do was talk about Jesus and the Bible. When the woman on the left would show up at the woman on the right's apartment, she'd close the door before the woman on the left could get in. One day, the woman on the left got to her apartment door before she could close it. So the woman on the right let

Getaway Like Jesus

Image
In a culture that is hurried, distracted, and worn out, the purposeful and intentional life of Jesus stands out. He was certainly busy, but his life has an intentionality ours tends to miss. We’d like to suggest one thing that made the difference for Jesus and can do the same for you: taking regular, frequent, and intentional getaways from his ordinary pattern of life to be with the Father. In the 3.5 years of Jesus’ ministry, in addition to his daily times with his Father, the Gospels record at least 21 times that Jesus broke up his normal pattern of life and ministry to get away. They weren’t all lengthy, and many were interrupted, but these getaways were a frequent part of his life. This book will help you learn to pace like Jesus and pray like Jesus by studying his getaways with his Father. Written by Dave and Rennie Garda with the partnership of whole Cadre team. FREE Disciplemaking Audio: 23 minutes from my soul to yours...

"Thanks for sharing this audio with me. Classic Bill. Classic Cadre. Classic disciplemaking. LOVE IT! So  grateful for Cadre."   —Shane Stacey, National Director of Students Ministries, Evangelical Free Church of America If you dare to listen to the audio below, you'll explore questions like... * What does a Jesus-like disciplemaking way of life look like today? * Why the disciplemaking genius of Jesus is so important today? * Why do we act like what God gave us is not enough? * Why do we ignore the simple and clear and gravitate toward the new and cool? * How can our love for books impede disciplemaking? * Why are disciplemaking friendships so critically important? Here's a recent 23 minute radio interview I had the honor of doing. It's FREE. It's on Jesus and disciplemaking. It's for YOU to share with others. I hope God uses these 23 minutes to increase your passion for Jesus and disciplemaking as a way of life. I hope you'll sh

Monday Funday: ANOTHER daughter, ANOTHER Homecoming? Will it ever end?

Image
I'm not sure, but I might be losing my ability to strike fear into the hearts of the young men who come to pick up my daughters for Homecoming. Truth be told: If this young man wasn't the fine Christian young man I know him to be, he wouldn't be standing on my front porch. And he certainly wouldn't have that smile on his face. But he is—and he does. I think my daughters and their Homecoming dates have been pretty good sports about putting up with a dad like me. Thanks kids. Get Cup O' Joe with Bill in your Email Inbox! We invested the weekend training leaders with the Disciplemaking Is Relationships training experience. Our Sadey celebrated her 12th birthday with the traditional Allison breakfast in bed.
