Are You Following a Fake Jesus of Your Own Making?

So many people saying stuff like, "If Jesus was walking the earth today, he would totally endorse _____________ (fill in your favorite ridiculous idea/cause).

Yes, God made us in His image.

However, we seem to be returning the favor.

Hence the picture above.

Have we rebranded Jesus into an image that suits our fancies—one that we can claim to follow but doesn't really resemble the Jesus in the Bible?

I think so.

Soren Kierkegaard said: "My mission is to introduce Christ into Christendom."  That would be funny if it weren't so painfully true.

This begs the BIG question...
Are you following the Jesus of the Bible?
Or one of these imposters...
American Prosperity Jesus?
Anything Goes Jesus
Starbucks Jesus?
Genie Jesus?
CEO Jesus?
Or  ________________
(Fill in your favorite fake Jesus above).

I think Kierkegaard was on to something. If we’re ever going to get back to the real Jesus, we must start with the real Jesus as in the Bible.
Everything else is mere conjecture.

We have been warned...
"Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas...."
—Hebrews 13:8-9

"Don't let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and the spiritual power of this world, rather than from Christ."
—Colossians 2:8
