Breaking Allison Family News: Bill Allison's Wife Is Having a Baby!

Take a good look at this sonogram.

(Now take a deep breath.) Christmas is the celebration of the birth of a child. (Are you sitting down right now?) And no one was more surprised than Mary and Joseph. (If you’re on medication, this might be a good time to take it.) Because you subscribe to Cup O' Joe with Bill, you are among the very first people to know this breaking and surprising news: There is a baby on the way! Yep, we just got word that our son, Bill and his wife, Lydia, are “with child.” And that means: We’re going to be grandparents!

Did I take away your breath for moment? Good. I know what you’re thinking now: “Wow, Bill and Stacy are way too young-looking to be grandparents.” I know, right. (*wink) Don’t worry. Three days after we found out that we were going to be grandparents, I went to an REO Speed Wagon concert with Aubrey and Sadey. Take that old age! #OldGuysRock

Bad to the bone biker chick. a.k.a, Stacy.

I’m not gonna lie. I’m not quite ready for the moniker, “grandpa.” So, from this point on, all future Allison grandkids shall refer to me—not as “Paw Paw”—but as the much-more-cool/gangsta, “G-Dog.” Who knows? Maybe Stacy and I will get back in the game and try to have #8 so we can raise another child with our grandchild. (Okay, that’s fake news. Just checking to see if you’re still reading.) #YouNeverKnow #StillintheGame

So far I think I've been a pretty good G-Dog to Angus, our first grand-dog.

After 33+ years of marriage, Stacy and I still have the heat baby! However, for Stacy these days, it’s mostly in hot flashes. #menopause I love Stacy’s food philosophy: “Eating dark chocolate is like eating a vitamin.” (That kind of convoluted thinking makes me believe I married the right woman!) As for me, I’m at the age of wonder: I wonder what’s going to hurt today. If putting on weight counts, then yes, I have grown a lot this year. We try to exercise often. I’m doing crunches twice a day now. Captain in the morning and Nestle in the evening. #StayCrazy

Sisters who game together stay together.

Recently, we were having pizza at home with Sadey, 20, and Ivy, 10. I asked Sadey about her college classes. Stacy said, “Sadey might have to take a chemistry class.”
Sadey quickly responded, “Chemistry is easy.”
Without missing a beat, Ivy said, “Oh yeah, then why haven’t you found yourself a boyfriend yet?”
That’s the kind of quick-witted sassiness we encourage at our house.

I bought Stacy a small electronic massager that can be used in the car. On a long ministry roadtrip recently, Ivy asked if she could use it. A few minutes later, Ivy exclaimed, “This is doing wonders for my glutes!”

“Oh no!“ That’s what I said as I looked out the window one morning and saw the very first snow flakes of this winter season.
Ivy said, “Aren’t we supposed to give God thanks in everything?”
It ain’t easy living with someone as pure and joyful as Ivy. I thank God that Ivy is discipling me. It’s funny AND true in so many ways. I have a lot to learn. Pray for us!

Seriously, I hope no one went to the hospital after reading this. If so, this post was my wife's idea.

I'm going to point out that going to an REO Speedwagon concert is not a sign of youth. They formed in 1967 . . . Just sayin'. Congrats on the grandparenting adventure!
