Comin' in Hot! The 2022 Allison Family Christmas Letter
When your "friends" receive your missionary prayer card and put it on their refrigerator.

Well, let me say right off the bat that my wife, Stacy, has never been hotter! We’re 34 years in—and this is the hottest I’ve ever seen her. That’s right. She’s deep in the throes of menopause. (Shouldn’t it be called “womenopause”? No wonder men are so confused.) Just between you and me, I’m starting to long for the good ol’ days of PMS. For example, Stacy, Ivy, and I were in the car driving to a church where I was scheduled to preach. We were 30 minutes into the drive, and I noticed that I was still freezing. Our car makes it possible for both people in the front seats to adjust the temperature to two different levels.

I looked and mine was on 83 and Stacy’s was on 60—and 60 was clearly winning. I’m writing this letter wearing three layers of shirts and coats. Not joking. The good news is, it looks like we’re saving money on our heating bill this winter.

Stacy and I are having so much fun with 11-year-old Ivy. It has been such a different experience with Ivy compared to all our many previous kids who are now adults. Once the three of us were in a theater. A little girl sitting in front of us turned around, looked at us, and then asked Ivy, “Are these your grandparents?” Stacy and I laughed like crazy. I wish you could have seen the horrified look on the face of the little girl’s mom. Totally worth it! Even Ivy gets in on the joke by making fun of me when I get mail from the AARP. Truly, God has given us the life we never knew we always wanted. I can’t tell if Ivy is just amazingly good, sweet, and considerate or if Stacy and I are so old and tired that we just don’t care anymore. Either way, the three of us are happy and having a lot of fun together.

Our new favorite adult kid is our son, Bill, who—along with his wife, Lydia, brought our first grandkid into our lives in May. If we happen to see you somewhere, we’d be happy to share our many thousands of pics and videos of Billy the 4th. Most people think their grandkids are exceptional. Ours really is.
