Disciplemaking + Ice Cream = Adventure

Image
All of Jesus' followers are called to make disciples.  Some of us eat a lot of ice cream while we do it. Picture Below: What's more fun than lots of snow, a rocking band, 400 plus junior high students and their youth leaders, and the best camp ever ? Nothing. Why? Because it's an adventure! It was my honor to be the camp speaker in January for a Winter Extreme Weekend. A bunch of students indicated that they trusted Christ as Savior… a bunch more reconnected with God. Very… very cool.  ( Click any image below to enlarge for better viewing.) Also in January: I spoke to youth pastors and their wives at a retreat especially for them and their marriages in Wisconsin. Of course, my text for the retreat was the Song of Solomon :  ) It was an SOS adventure. When I wasn't speaking, Stacy and I got lots of time connecting with other couples… encouraging them… it's what we love to do. Also in January, we traveled to Iowa where we did training Friday-Sunday on th

Discipleship or Disciplemaking?

Which one of below is disciple ship and which one is disciple making ? Why? What are the differences between disciple ship and disciple making ? Why does it matter? Consider why your life is too short to do discipleship . Quotes from the article: "Perhaps the mark of a growing church or ministry isn't how many people are coming into it, but rather how many disciplemakers are being sent out from it." "We call this multiplication of Jesus-like disciplemakers and Disciplemaking Learning Communities "D3 Disciplemaking." D1 inflow happens when, together with others, we intentionally set about living a life of loving God and loving people. D2 is the overflow from a D1 lifestyle that enables us to help others begin or deepen their adventures of loving God and loving people. With the consistent inflow of D1 and overflow of D2, together we enjoy D3—where it's our privilege to help others help others to love God and love people. D3 = three generat

My Wife the Comedian

Image
I'm driving home. My cell phone rings. I look to see who is calling. It's my wife, Stacy. I answer the phone in a low, slow, sexy voice, "Sexy Stud Hotline—can I help you?" Without missing a beat, my wife says, "I'm sorry—I must have the wrong number. I was trying to reach my husband." She's sassy, funny, AND gorgeous. I think I'll keep her for another 30 years . Leadership: There Is a Better Way

Image
Before you fall in love with the latest leadership jargon and jump on the buzzword bandwagon, consider the fact that words alone will never make you a leader. They make you a talker. However, there is a better way… if you're daring enough. You can lead with your life… not just your lips. "For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power." —I Corinthians 4:20
